INDEPENDENCE DAY

The fireworks have all ended
We were left alone standing in gray air
I tried to talk but the ground was
Too still fog smoke blue thick

I wanted to tell tale of this heart
failing heart
Trail lines laid story book streams
Memory of you a path paved one year ago
your smile is in my dreams
your walking foot step in my ear
I have felt you in my heart

I must share the happiness bubbles
Bright orange and powder blue explosions
So much madness up there
In my head
It is now all settled
Dead climatic joy
Sadden smile and tear pillow

There is no right to burden with soiled sorrow
a pausing thought
Then the words blared straight up
A pounding rush of bursting rockets saying
more than they should

Bang
silence
A tell tale of this heart ambers fall
Don't dust these words away ashes into can
understand a deep soul friend
Independence day is over
